What we do

Roofing services across Cannock

From one slipped tile to a full strip and re-cover, plus the leadwork, flat roofing and guttering that goes with it.

Roof repairs

Slipped tiles, leaks, storm damage and failed flashing put right, usually in a single visit.

New roofs and re-roofing

Stripped back to the rafters and rebuilt with breathable membrane, treated battens and new tiles.

Flat roofing

Fibreglass, EPDM rubber and felt systems for extensions, garages and dormers.

Chimneys and leadwork

Repointing, rebuilds, cowls and new lead flashing where the old work has given up.

Fascias, soffits and guttering

UPVC replacements that stop water tracking back down into the brickwork.

Moss removal and maintenance

Roof cleaning, gutter clearing and the small fixes that stop a much bigger bill later.

During and after

How a re-roof goes on

The first plays a slope being tiled from bare battens up. Drag the handle on the second to move between the roof mid job and the finished covering.

Job 01

Stripped, felted, battened and re-tiled

The old covering comes off, the roof is felted with a breathable membrane and battened at the right gauge, then the tiles go on course by course from the eaves up. The gauge staying constant all the way to the ridge is what keeps the courses straight and stops the slope drifting off line halfway up.

Job 02

Hips, valleys and ridges given the time

Hips and valleys are where a roof lets go first, so that is where the hours go. Tiles are cut in tight along the hip, the ridge is bedded and pointed, and the slope is left running true from the eaves to the apex rather than drifting off line halfway up.

Why choose us

The bit you cannot see is the bit that matters

Anyone can lay a tile. Whether the roof is still dry in five winters comes down to the membrane, the battens and the lead underneath it.

Sound underneath, not just on top

New breathable membrane and treated battens on every re-roof. Tiles dropped back onto tired felt is a job you end up paying for twice.

Leadwork done, not patched

Chimneys, valleys and abutments get proper lead, dressed and fixed, rather than a smear of mastic that lasts one winter.

One team, start to finish

The person who quotes the roof is on the roof. Nothing gets handed off to a subcontractor you have never met.

Genuinely local

Our yard is on Oaklands Industrial Estate in Hednesford, so across Cannock and the Chase we are minutes away rather than hours.

Photographs throughout

You see what was wrong and what was done, including the parts of the roof you could never get up to yourself.

Clean site, swept drive

Sheeted down, waste taken away as we go, and the drive swept before we leave.

Meet the owner

Midland Roof Shield

Midland Roof Shield is a roofing business working across Cannock and the counties around it. Repairs, full re-roofs, flat roofing, chimneys and leadwork, taken on and finished by the same people rather than passed around.

The name is the point of it. A roof is the one part of a house that is protecting everything underneath, and it only does that job properly if the membrane, the battens and the lead are right. That is where the hours go, even though none of it shows from the ground.

Kevin Clee has been roofing for twenty five years and there are six of us working out of the Hednesford yard. We also run our own roofing supplies shop, which is why we can usually match a discontinued tile ourselves rather than joining the queue behind every other roofer waiting on a merchant. More about us.
